I've tried picking up the game only once before, closer to launch, but only got a grasp of how it plays up until the Medieval era.
I've invested a fair share of my time into EL and ES2, and have played a few games of Civ 5 and 6, but Humankind is not only beautiful, but it's also so much fun to explore and plan my way around other players, build garrisons and districts in key places to connect the cities and anticipate attacks in chokepoints, establish lines of production, plan train stations to set up quick army supply to the front, etc., I've been on a binge for almost the entirety of the last three days. So, I've just finished my first attempt at a game of Humankind on the Humankind difficulty, and it was great - for the most part.
